Composting toilets like Cuddy are a great addition to any van or off-grid living setup. Cuddy is eco-friendly, saves water, and requires no plumbing – woohoo! But, before using Cuddy, he needs to be wired properly into your van’s electrical system. In this post, we’ll go over the steps required to wire your new composting toilet. Watch the video and refer to the written steps below!

Step 1: Plug in the Power Lead

The first thing to do is take the power lead that comes with your Cuddy and plug it into the DC jack at the back. The power lead has a 5.5 x 2.1mm DC jack on one end and bare wires on the other. Once you plug it in, the other end is ready to be wired into your van.

Step 2: Wire Cuddy into Your Van

The next step is to wire Cuddy into your van’s electrical system. To do this, you need to use a low amperage fuse. Cuddy uses 0.1 amps at 12 volts – which is about 1 watt – so make sure the fuse you use matches those specifications. It’s important to note that if you’re not comfortable wiring Cuddy into your van on your own, seek the help from a professional builder, electrician, or the Mr. Fixit in your family.

Step 3:

Done!

Wiring your new composting toilet Cuddy into your van is a simple process that can be done by anyone who is comfortable working with electrical systems. Just follow those steps and you’ll be ready to use your eco-friendly, water-saving toilet in no time!

I just love you guys so much and all that you stand for. Just recently have been learning about the plastic toxins PFAS in ‘biosludege’! Or treated human waste that is used as fertilizer here in USA. Thousands of families and farms have lost their livelihoods due to this. I also drive a van and can’t wait to buy my first Cuddy.
