My particular setup has made external venting difficult, so when I saw the venting carbon filter, I knew I had to give it a try.
Installation… happened.
A combination of moisture-rusted screws delaying the removal of old components, and instructions that seemed to leave off important details (words, whole actions), it certainly could have been smoother sailing. Luckily, I prevailed on the screws, and pictures really are worth a thousand words, so determining the orientation for various items was able to happen.
There seem to be more items included in the kit than were used or even made mention of. Two small plastic pieces that look as if they could plug or slide into something, but zero mention of them, nor any success finding where they could possibly be used.
There was some mention of a “recirculation cover” being in the UP or DOWN position. I have no idea what this is or what position it came in. Some better documentation on this in the instructions would have been appreciated.
If I wanted it to recirculate, what does that configuration look like?
My only real complaint: MY GOODNESS THE FAN IS LOUD. It almost seems to vibrate the wall it is nearest. Certainly can’t sleep with it running.
I hope it is in part due to possibly having it in the wrong mode (venting when I want recirculating), because if this is standard proper operations it is untenable.
All that said: the quality is the same cuddy quality I have appreciated ever since first picking up my cuddy a few years ago. Perhaps this is the most sophisticated component of the cuddy overall. I let any potential ignorance on my part sour the overall review: bad or noisy fans can be replaced, I really like the idea behind the vented carbon filter and its general instantiation.
