Common FAQs about Our Portable Toilets

  • Cuddy Lite is our lightest, most compact model. It only requires one 9V battery to operate, is easy to carry, and simple to set up anywhere. With urine diversion to reduce odors and quick emptying, it’s ideal for camping, van travel, hunting trips, and seasonal cabins.

  • As a urine diverting toilet, it eliminates the mixing of solids and liquids, which is the primary culprit of that icky sewage smell.

  • It will depend on how many people are using it. On average, Cuddy Lite needs solids emptied weekly, and Cuddy will last 2-3+ weeks. The S1 can seal about 50 #2s before you need to change the cartridge. For liquids, you’ll need to empty every 2-3 days (more often if more people are using it). With the liquids indicator light on all three models, you’ll never have to worry about liquids overflow!

  • Yes! That’s the beauty of our portable toilets. Since there’s no smell, they are the perfect toilet for indoor use and for using outdoors.

  • Yep! Although Cuddy Lite requires more frequent emptying, many people prefer the simplicity and use it for their full-time toilet in their RV, campervan, or tiny house.

  • The main differences are:

    • Cuddy Lite: Lighter, no fan, no agitator, no external power needed, lowest price, most portable.
    • Cuddy: Ventilation fan (must be connected to an external power source), built-in agitator, longer time between empties.

  • For CompoCloset’s portable toilet models, liquids are emptied responsibly at a designated disposal point or combined with your grey water.

Depending on your model, solids are either emptied into a compost pile, bagged and disposed of responsibly, or bagged and sealed and added to regular household waste.
